A Valentine's Day Wish

Congratulations to all the couples who got engaged this weekend! We love proposal stories, so if you're inclined to share, please reach out to us.

My husband and I spend our first Valentine's Day as a married couple, coordinating the wedding of Soupany and Sam. Wish Upon a Wedding worked quickly to plan this urgent wish. The bride's oncologist, who happens to be a classically trained pianist surprised the couple by playing the piano during their ceremony. She said Soupany is on her 5th of 9 lives, living on borrowed time, a true fighter. The bride's case manager lent her the fur coat in this picture, which was the perfect, something borrowed, as the snow began to fall just as the photos were wrapping up. The bride's gown was donated by one of her nurses. It was a gown that her daughter ended up not wearing, it was beautiful and other than being a little long, fit amazingly well.  The ceremony was performed by a palliative care chaplain from the hospital.  The reality of the situation was clear by the generosity and sentiment of everyone involved and despite a few challenges, I am happy to report the wedding was wonderful and enjoyed by all who witnessed this devoted duo exchange vows.

The organization's Urgent Wish, is a new concept, designed to plan weddings in hospitals, hospice or a residence, but because there was a connection to the sweet chapel at Endicott College, the couple's wedding took place at this charming venue, which was the perfect backdrop to their sweet little celebration. The beautiful pink, red and white bouquets and boutonniere were created by Jeri Solomon Floral Designs, a color combo which subtly acknowledged Valentine's Day and breast cancer. As the wedding was literally planned in 11 days, there wasn't alot of time for me to get to know the couple, but the one thing the bride requested was a white cake with strawberries and cream inside, and I am so happy that Jenny's Wedding Cakes was able to provide just that. Our bride devoured three slices and asked if she could take any remaining cake home! So major thanks to Jenny for making the bride's cake vision a reality and for providing so much, we were able to feed everyone and send the whole top tier home with the bride. What a sweet reminder for days to come. Shawn Black Photography was great to have on board, I am so excited to share more of his stunning images from our winter wish!

Lastly, I'd like to thank Rick, my love, who helps me daily in infinite ways, but it was especially nice to have him by my side on Valentine's Day supporting me in this labor of love.

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day filled with love and goodness.

xo,
Tammy
