The Bell House in Brooklyn

Thanks to Robin and Elann for entrusting the coordination of their wedding day to us. It was a pleasure to see all the careful planning and their creativity come to life at The Bell House in Brooklyn! 

Robin got ready at her family home, the front door coordinated with her color scheme nicely and was a perfect backdrop for her dress.

The bridal party was all men, on both sides.

 They all looked dapper and were accommanied by the bride and groom's best friends.

The couple has many rescue dogs. They all dressed for the occasion and participated in the ceremony.

This is was the couples modern and creative nod to a traditional ketubah.

Naked Cake. Have you tried the cakes from Momofuko, this one had a nutela layer,  doesn't this looks incredibly decadent.

The groom was known to make frequent audio recordings of friends and family. One of his dear friends had a device and made a point to get every wedding guest to record a wedding day wish or personal message.


It was a great day make better by the couple's cool friends and family and of course their wedding vendors.

It was fun returning to The Bell House. We really appreciate how helpful and accommodating their team is.

A Wedding at The Foundry

In the spirit of sharing videos this week, I am so excited to share the work of Super 8 film artist Megan Hill. I've been a long time admirer of her movies and was thrilled when she was kind enough to refer me to her client last fall.

Congratulations to Elizabeth and David and thank you for enlisting a fabulous team of wedding professionals. Hello Super 8, The Foundry, Poppies and Posies and The Cleaver Company-- it doesn't get much better.

What is it like to walk in my shoes?

It has been a crazy good week for me and I am looking forward to reviewing all I have learned, following up with those I've met and making progress on the wedding and event inquiries I have received.

Big thanks to Angela Jia Kim of Savor the Success, her network for women entrepreneurs is excellent. I have been following her vlog for some time and this week was my first chance to attend a meeting and see her in action. Not only did Deena invite me, the legal advice I got from her is going to save me money! The meeting was packed with extremely useful information, a very well spent three hours!

Lisa Zaslow of Gotham Organizers invited me to substitute at her BNI chapter. Visiting new chapters and subbing for members is always an excellent early morning opportunity to jump start my day by meeting twenty new professionals, reciting my 60 second pitch and exchanging business cards.

I had an excellent coaching call with Wendy Robinson of Aspire to Plan. She gave me practical and valuable advice, that I have already put to use.

If you are a Manhattan or Brooklyn resident who owns or hopes to own a small business one day, tap into the amazing resources the city has to offer. The workshops and classes I have been taking, to grow my business, are packed with practical information. The Science, Industry and Business Library is a great place to start.

Registering for Eventology 2010, a wedding business conference was the best winter pick me up. The speakers are giants in the industry. I am really looking forward to this professional development opportunity and to spend time with some of my favorite wedding planners.

It hasn't been all work, thought. I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at The London, Gordon Ramsey's Hotel. Thanks Lisa for the invitation. This upscale venue has rooms for small weddings and rehearsal dinners and a chef's table in the kitchen.

Last night, cocktails at Top of the Rock was the finale to a very full and fun week. I enjoyed food by Great Performances and music by Jason Fioto of Generation Events. If you haven't been to the Top, the views of the city are spectacular!

Dress for Success

Thanks to InStyle Magazine and Pronovias for hosting a lovely evening of beautiful dresses and great designs. Michelle Rago and Shiraz were also on hand to share their floral and culinary expertise.

The Good Knife=A Good Night

Good is an understatement. The Good Knife is a gourmet catering company who generously hosted an Underground Supper Club recently. This casually elegant, exclusive gatherings of 30 event professionals featured five courses with wine pairings from Long Island's Wolffer Estate in a hush hush Manhattan location. I was in excellent company, greeted with champagne and chose a perfect table of like-minded foodies and industry colleagues to dine and chat with. The food was organic, thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented and delicious, not just good. Thanks to owner Andrea Lennon and her partner and chef, Deborah Gorman for a superb evening.
