Brooklyn's Best Wedding Vendors

This bouquet is by root stock & quade.

I guess, when a wedding show is called Wedding Crasher, it's bound to be interesting, right? This one certainly was.

Nicole Davis, the mastermind behind this Brooklyn Based bridal event, is genius. She partnered with The Bell House to host the first annual Wedding Crashers wedding fair. I am thrilled she accepted my offer to help her coordinate things on Saturday. If you were directed to my website as a result of the show, you are entitled to a special Wedding Crashers rate for full wedding planning services.

Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra was singing Brooklyn's praises! They have a look and sound which is so classic and unique, it would enhance any cocktail hour.

For the past two years, I've made it my job to attend bridal and wedding events in New York City. While certainly some stand out, The New York Magazine and The Wedding Library host my favorite wedding events every year, and while others are good, many are very, very repetitive. Wedding Crashers was fresh and interesting, I was thrilled to see so many new and interesting Brookyn based vendors showcased.

In Manhattan wedding events are attended by flocks of females, but this event was unique in the fact that this was many couples. Is it a Brooklyn thing? I am sure given the fact that that the event was at a bar helped the cause a bit too, but what ever the reason it was so nice seeing men on board and taking an interest in their wedding planning.

Always happy to see the uber talented Elana Dweck and Mel Barlow, I was thrilled to meet industry favorites Vané Broussard of Brooklyn Bride and Anne Chertoff.

Best eats of the day, tough because there were many excellent caterers and no shortage of great food, but the tuna tartare from Red Table Catering had me at hello. My top sweet pick of the day.... the miniature chocolate cupcakes from Nine Cakes. People had been all a twitter about Nine Cakes and I had yet to meet owner Betsy Thorleifson. Now I am happy to report she is as sweet and her cakes are delicious.

Overall the vibe was great, vendors and couples alike enjoyed the event. Cheers to delicious appetizers, original music, a funky venue and cool Brooklyn couples.

Inside an Event

Flowers by Topaz

Last month I was invited to a lunch at the Harvard Club. Jamie K Photography has been kind enough to share her photos from this day. Take a peek inside this Wedding Salon hosted event. Carley Roney co-founder and editor in chief of The Knot.com spoke to a room of wedding planners. It was a lovely afternoon.

We sip wine and mingle with industry friends.

The Harvard Club's interior is classic and regal.

The Club's team sets a stunning table.

Carley speaks!

We all listen carefully.

We eat and chat.

The beautiful music of Lliquid fills the room.

Butterflies & blue eyes

This past week, I enjoyed some time away at my “country home” aka my friends' house about 20 miles outside of Manhattan. I have a new boy-friend, meet Jason Evan Heffernan.

His recent arrival prompted the trip. Big sister Katie was happy to have a playmate and as much as I enjoy my city living, it was great to have something other than my computer on my lap all day long. We had so much fun swinging in the backyard, dancing to the music of the Bossy Frog Band, looking at bugs, sampling local goodies at the Nyack farmers' market, singing at the library's story hour, playing baby and giving faux makeovers. Like me, Katie is a huge fan of COOKIES.
